The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS)

The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons is based at The Royal College of Surgeons and was established for the advancement of education and safety in Aesthetic Surgery.

All BAAPS Members are on the Specialist Register of Plastic Surgeons held by the General Medical Council and are required to hand-in an annual safety audit of their work as a condition of membership.

Choosing to undergo plastic surgery with a plastic surgeon that is a member of BAAPS provides increased security for the patient in terms of the plastic surgeons knowledge and experience.

All applications to the BAAPS are scrutinized by the Council of the BAAPS.BAAPS demands that its members act both ethically and with probity; membership can be removed if there is evidence of continued failure to act in a manner becoming of a member. There is compulsory submission of numbers of operations and complications rates. Having surgery by a BAAPS member cannot guarantee an excellent result but the patient can be assured that their surgeon has been examined in aesthetic/cosmetic surgery and has been deemed by colleagues to be of sufficient standing to become a member.
